Worcestershire and Herefordshire Annual Dinner

The Annual W&H RFU Dinner was held at Ledbury Rugby Club on 27th January. The Dinner was hosted by W&H President Trevor Humphries at his home Club and Master of Ceremonies was Rob Chapman.

The audience of about 100 sat down to sumptuous 4 course Dinner with an excellent roast beef main course carved at the table.

The Guest Speaker was Peter Walton the ex. Northampton Saints, Newcastle Falcons and Scotland player who is currently working with the England Under 18 side.

Peter gave an excellent talk, when he gave the audience a sheet of paper with three names in each position of a rugby team, who Peter had played with or against during his career. He then asked them to nominate their “best” player. Peter then discussed the reasons for his choice which gave an insight into what goes on behind the scenes in Professional and International Rugby.

A successful raffle and auction was held to raise money for the W&H Senior and Under 19s sides that will compete in the Iskitz three Counties Championship and Houghton Harris competitions respectively at the end of the season.

Peter presented the Jay Martin, The Senior’s Captain, with the Marches Trophy for beating Shropshire in the preliminary round and The John Hunt Shield which was won in the Final at Newport.

The Merit Table winners were also presented with their Trophies by Peter Walton.
